Commemorative T-Shirts
In the Summer of 2008, Rafael Nadal replaced Roger Federer as the new #1, following his victories over Federer at the French Open and Wimbledon, his title clinch of the Rogers Cup in Toronto and his defeat of Nicolas Lapentti in the Quarterfinals at the Masters in Cincinnati.
And, to top it off, Nadal, representing Spain at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, defeated Fernando Gonzalez of Chile on Aug. 17, 2008 to win Gold!
Nadal, long known as the Prince of tennis, was the longest running #2 in the history of men’s tennis. For 3 straight years, from July 25, 2005 to Aug. 18, 2008, Nadal impressively held the #2 position, his advance stopped only by the King of tennis, Roger Federer, who held the #1 spot without interruption for 4 years, from Feb. 2, 2004 to Aug. 18, 2008. The Prince is now King – Numero Uno!
